With the super concert guitar I have tried to create a guitar with the strongest possible projection.
The soundboard
is the same as in the standard concert guitar, but in the rest of the guitar I
have gone to
some extremes to create an extreme stiffness in
the construction, to minimize the loss of energy.
As a result
the guitar is quite heavy (3,2 kg), but the very
strong projection is there.
The extremes:
- Ebony neck,
reinforced with graphite,
- Double
rosewood sides,
- All internal
reinforcements in ebony,
The materials
in the super concert guitar:
- a soundboard of very high
quality European spruce,
or cedar.
- back and sides of very high
quality Indian rosewood,
- the back is reinforced with
cedar,
- an ebony neck reinforced with graphite,
- an ebony fingerboard,
- an ebony centerbrace,
- other internal
reinforcements are in ebony
- the roset
is in kingwood and maple,
- all white decoration lines are maple.
The guitar has an elevated fingerboard, which is good for the sound, makes for easier playing over the octave and
minimizes the chance of scratching the soundboard.
The guitar has an armrest
for the right arm on the edge of the soundboard. This way the soundboard is not
damped by the right arm.
There are 20
frets on the fingerboard.
The string length is 65
cm.
The guitar has an optimized
soundboard, a center brace in
the body and a back that is reinforced with two layers of cedar.
The guitar is varnished by hand with an acrylic varnish, rubbed out to a high gloss.
The soundboard is
French polished (a
thin coat of shellack).
The machine heads are Gotoh 510, with aluminium rollers and black buttons that go well with the enameled
ebony neck.
A Hiscox case is included.
